Our Mission

Louisiana Key Academy’s mission is to serve the community at large, to educate and remediate children with dyslexia in an evidence-based curriculum, and to stand as an excellent model and resource for other schools and communities. All students who attend LKA receive specialized instruction in the form of Academic Language Therapy under the guidance of a trained therapist. This program is evidence-based and tailored to the needs of the dyslexic child with all elements of language being explicitly and sequentially taught. The goal of this program is to develop fluent readers as close to grade level as possible.

About Us

Louisiana Key Academy (LKA) is Louisiana's premier school for students with dyslexia. We are a tuition-free public type 2 charter school whose mission is to serve the community at large, to educate and remediate children with dyslexia in an evidence-based curriculum, and to stand as an excellent model and resource for other schools and communities. Highlights of our program include free screening and evaluation for dyslexia through our admissions process, small class sizes for reading and math, teachers who are trained to work with dyslexic students, and a full day of specialized instruction tailored to the needs of the dyslexic child. LKA celebrates students' strengths and remediates their weaknesses to prepare them for a successful life.
